Status Report #3: DEcomp

There is not a lot we are able to tell you about DEcomp - now or ever. It is a software project associated with the Digitalis and Digitalis Prologue productions. Its current implementation is written in C, but for the next version we are moving to a C++ and Objective-C hybrid to develop it as a Cocoa native OS X application. We are not able to tell you what the software actually does, though. You'll just have to wait and see it in action in Digitalis Prologue. We are not planning to ever release this software as a commercial product. Rather, we see it as a unique means to an even more unique end - and that's how we want to keep it.

Status Report #2: Digitalis

Digitalis is a massive undertaking, there is no other way to put it. But, we have already begun work on "Digitalis Prologue," a short film based upon Digitalis, which we expect to be completed in the next three to six months.

As we speak, our render farm is churning out the first complete shot from Digitalis. The render in the pipeline right now is the last low-resolution test, which allows us to verify the quality of our keyframe animation and dynamic simulation. Later this evening, we will be conducting a ten frame full resolution test. If all goes well, the two thousand plus final frames will begin rendering tomorrow.

You can see a preliminary still at Hebali.

The prologue is currently in Pre-Viz stage and it appears that principle photography will begin by August.

Status Report #1: Deus Ex Machina

Despite several delays, the Deus Ex Machina project is nearing completion and will be the first of the three "D"s to be released. Deus Ex Machina is a philosophical essay regarding semiotics, optics and computer generated imagery. Patrick is presently finishing the "Icon" section and then moving to its final stage, whose code name is being withheld at this time. Rest assured, however, that this project will most likely end up as a free download from the Hebali website. We are not currently prepared to offer a timeline for the completion of this project, but when that information becomes available it will be posted here. Stay tuned.

Initial Disclosure.

In their fourteen years of operation, the Hebalty Corporation and its eventual parent company H|H/G and subsidiaries Hebali, Parallax Digitalis, and Hebalty Digital Studio have maintained a high level of secrecy in their activities. In fact, one of our corporate slogans has been "Non-Disclosure Agreements all around!" That attitude is still reflected in the development of our three current projects (The 3 D's): Deus Ex Machina, Digitalis and DEcomp. But today, we've decided to breathe a little transparency into the H|H/G family of corporations by starting this blog that might affectionately be named "What seems to be going on at the H|H/G family of corporations." (Though this is not its official name.) Since we cannot, in practical terms, require Non-Disclosure Agreements to be signed by all of our readers, we must regrettably limit the content of this page to general terms regarding the progress of each of our three "D" projects. However, we see this as a big step forward.

Thank you for your continued support.
